Rush Raises $1.5 Million For Leukemia Society

LOS ANGELES, March 20, 2001 — On March 16, Rush Limbaugh joined WABC-NY in its 11th Annual Cure-a-thon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society by donating $350,000 personally, up from his $250,000 last year, and persuaded his listeners to do the same. The result was a total of $1.5 million in donations from the Limbaugh radio program. Overall, the WABC event raised $1.6 million dollars this year, up from $1.29 million last year.

WABC local hosts continued the effort throughout the day on March 16. "I have to commend both the WABC listeners and the Rush listeners who came through once again with flying colors," said WABC Program Director Phil Boyce. "Rush kicked it off with a bang again, and our listeners ignored signs of a poor economy, and gave from the heart for this worthy cause."

WABC sponsors the annual event in March every year. Rush Limbaugh handles the national aspect of the event, and many of the Rush Limbaugh affiliate stations around the country also participate.

Premiere Radio Networks, Inc., a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications (NYSE: CCU), syndicates more than 100 radio programs and services to more than 7,800 radio affiliations and reaches over 180 million listeners weekly.
